Sysdiag -- Entropy Engineering's System Diagnostics
(c) Copyright 1992, Entropy Engineering
Sysdiag reports on various parts of a PC system that are not often
tested by commercial packages. This program helps determine how
current and future Entropy packages will run on your computer.
Sysdiag reports the following information:
ram: Amount of lower system RAM. This is typically 640K.
cpu: Type of CPU in your system.
2 is a 286
3 is a 386
4 is a 486
x87: 1 if a Math Coprocessor is installed, 0 otherwise.
vesa: The first number is a 1 if a VESA driver has been found.
The second number tells the VESA driver version number, if
known.
video: Type of display adapter.
1 for CGA or MDA
2 for EGA
3 for VGA
video int rate: If Video Interrupts are enabled, a number other than
0 will appear in this field. On most VGA cards there
is a jumper to enable video interrupts. Future
versions of Video Titler, Video Show Assistant, and
other Entropy products may require this interrupt for
best performance.
timer tick normal int rate: The timer tick interrupt on the PC is the
heart of a PC's timing. The normal interrupt rate is
18-19 times times per second. (18.2 actual) Video
Titler speeds this up 10 times.
timer tick fast int rate: This is the faster version. A typical
number for this test is 100. If the number is closer
to 18 or 19, then either a TSR is messing up the
Timer chip, or the motherboard is not AT compatible.
Yes, there are some motherboards that are not
designed correctly. If there is a problem with this
test, then Video Titler will not run properly.
